Limerick Challenge for All Ages!

We know you love to read. Write a limerick and show us your sizzling writing skills this summer!

Adult Summer Fun Program

Win gift certificates to area restaurants and shops!

From June 22 to August 3, participants will receive a raffle ticket for signing up for the program and for each book review form they submit. Forms will be available at the library beginning June 22.

In addition, participants can earn raffle tickets when they attend a program at the library and by writing a limerick for our Library Limerick Contest.

Book review forms must be submitted by August 3. A drawing for gift certificates will be held after August 6. Prizes must be picked up in person. For questions, call us!

Teen Summer Fun Program

Schedule of Events:

Thursday, June 27th
Apples to Apples and Pizza Party
Kick off the summer with a game of word association and Pizza from Pizza Today!
*Registration is required

Thursday, July 11th
The Search for Life
Join presenter Geoff McLean, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, in a presentation on humanity’s search for life on other planets.

Thursday, July 18th
Werewolf
It’s back! See if you can figure out who the werewolves are… before it’s too late!
*Registration is required

Thursday, July 25th
Paint Party
Paint along and learn how to create a starry-themed painting.
*Space is limited and registration is required
SPECIAL: This program begins at 5:30 and runs until 7:30!

Thursday, August 1st
Oreo Truffle Planets
Come learn to make delicious Oreo truffles and swirl chocolate on top to make a marbled planet look!
*Registration is required

Registration is required for ALL programs. All events are free and open to teens in middle and high school, and start at 6 PM (except the Paint Party, which begins at 5:30 PM).

You do not have to participate in the reading portion to attend!

Teen Book Review

Forms are also available at the library. Complete a short review of a book and earn 2 raffle tickets!

Teen Summer Fun Bingo

Forms are also available at the library. Each bingo is worth 1 ticket. Blackout (completing all of the challenges) is 5 bonus tickets. Tickets will be awarded when you turn in your card. Return by August 3rd for credit!

Teen Interest Survey

Forms are also available at the library. We want to know more about you! What types of books do you enjoy? What programs do you want to see? What are you interested in?

Teen Reading Log

Check off each day that you read. Try and read for at least 15 minutes. For every 5 days you check off, you get a raffle ticket! If you read every single day during summer you get 2 extra tickets! Logs must be returned to Bill Memorial Library by close on August 3rd.

Children's Summer Fun Program

Game Play

Check off each day that you read 15 minutes or more on your reading log.
• Earn a raffle ticket each time you visit the library to take your turns. The more you visit, the more tickets you can earn!
• Take a turn for each DAY you read and rocket around the game board. LIMIT OF 7 TURNS PER VISIT!
• PLANET SPACES ~ collect that particular planet sticker for your log. Collect all 9 planet stickers and earn an extra raffle ticket! AND a pair of alien sunglasses!
• CHOOSE ANY STICKER ~ you may choose any sticker that you don’t already have to help complete your sticker log.
• SCRATCH OFF TICKET ~ earn extra raffle tickets or prizes.
• Collect a raffle ticket each time you pass GO. Use your tickets to try and win cool prizes!
Last day to record your reading and play the game is Saturday, August 3rd.
Because of the large number of kids who come in on the last day to play the game—
LIMIT OF 5 TURNS ON THE LAST DAY So be sure to take your turns often (earns more raffle tickets!) and don’t wait until the last day!
We will draw for the raffle mid-August, and raffle prize winners will be notified.
ALL READERS WILL RECEIVE A FREE BOOK AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE PROGRAM ON OR AFTER AUGUST 6th!!

The Messier Objects – Tuesday, July 2nd at 1 PM. Travel beyond warp speed to discover the beauty of the universe as only the camera can capture. A photographic delight!

All CT Reads is a year-long initiative by the Connecticut State Library to encourage lifelong reading, learning, and connection. A committee of community members pick several titles for various age groups each calendar year.
