The Bill Memorial Library hosts Dr. Roger Smith on Tuesday, November 14th at 6:00pm as he presents his research on women who dared to resist the norms of 18th-century western culture. Learn about some of the most amazing, yet little-known, participants in the American Revolution, gathered from various collections of reports about women from each colony, of all races, free and enslaved. The Bill Memorial Library will host a special Nocturnal Animal program, presented by The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, on Tuesday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. Kids are invited to meet a live owl and learn about the different animals that come out at night while everyone else is sleeping! The Bill Memorial Library, in partnership with the Riverfront Children’s Center in Groton, is pleased to announce the commencement of the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Beginning Monday, September 18, families are invited to come to the library and pick up a registration packet containing program information and reading logs. This free program encourages parents to read 1000 books with their newborn, toddler, or preschool child before he or she starts kindergarten, with the library providing small incentives for each milestone met. This program is designed for children from birth to age 5 and is partially funded by The Friends of The Bill Memorial Library. For more information, please stop by the library or call 860-445-0392.
