The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites Jedi and Sith of all ages to celebrate Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, October 5 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  We will feature Star Wars˗themed activities, crafts and snacks as well as a “photo booth” for selfies. We will have freebies for the kids while supplies last. Discover all the amazing Star Wars titles in our collection; we will have books with all your favorite characters from a galaxy far, far away on display and available to check out. COSPLAY IS ENCOURAGED! Visitors dressed in a Star Wars costume will receive a free book and have their picture posted on our Facebook page. Stop by and celebrate reading and all things Star Wars! The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton, CT is proud to announce the return of its weekly computer coding club: Girls Who Code! Girls Who Code is a national organization that empowers girls to learn to code while having fun, building community, and making an impact.  Interested girls and their families are invited to an informational session on Tuesday, October 1st at 4:00 p.m. to learn more about Girls Who Code and what our new chapter will look like.  All students in grades 6-12 are welcome!  The first official meeting of the Bill Memorial Library’s Girls Who Code will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 4:00 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Library at (860) 445-0392.

The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites children in grades 1 through 5 to our first in a monthly series of Afterschool Art presented by the Lyman Allyn Art Museum on Thursday, October 10 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Learn about beautiful, colorful Tiffany glass! Children will be able to view examples of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s stunning leaded glass windows and lamps before painting their own “stained glass” window. This program is free but registration is required; to register or for more information, please stop by the library or call 860-445-0392. Celebrate one year of Tiffany in New London, a permanent exhibition on view at the Lyman Allyn.

AFTERSCHOOL ART PRESENTED BY THE LYMAN ALLYN ART MUSEUM!

The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites children in grades 1 through 5 to join us for three afterschool sessions to create art!  Each session will by presented by Sophia Gipstein of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum and will include a fun art project.  The sessions will take place on Thursdays, October 10th, November 14th, and December 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m,  

Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.; Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.; and Saturday, 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Back to school can be stressful! Take a break and learn to make a Desktop Zen Garden at the Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton, CT on Thursday, September 19th, at 5:30pm. Teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to build their own Zen Garden using repurposed tins that will fit perfectly on your desk at home. This event is free for all teens and all materials will be provided. Registration is required. Please call the library at (860)445-0392 to reserve your space.
